Monsoon Palace
Monsoon Palace, also known as Sajjan Garh Palace, is a hilltop palace overlooking Udaipur. Built in 1884 by Maharana Sajjan Singh, it was intended as a monsoon retreat and an observatory to watch the clouds. Perched atop the Aravalli Hills, the palace offers stunning panoramic views of Udaipur city, its lakes, and surrounding landscapes. Constructed with white marble, it reflects Rajput architectural elegance and serves as a testament to the royal vision of capturing nature’s beauty during the rainy season.
Monsoon Palace
The Monsoon Palace was envisioned by Maharana Sajjan Singh as a luxurious retreat to enjoy Udaipur’s monsoon season, with its elevated position providing a perfect vantage point for cloud-watching. Unfortunately, the Maharana passed away before its completion, and it was finished by his successor. The palace’s strategic location within the Sajjan Garh Wildlife Sanctuary adds to its allure, offering visitors a blend of natural beauty and historical charm. Its appearance in the James Bond movie 'Octopussy' has made it globally recognizable. Today, it attracts tourists for its sunset views and serene ambiance atop the Aravalli Hills.
