Jaisamand Lake

Jaisamand Lake was constructed in 1685 by Maharana Jai Singh during the dam-building process for irrigation, making it an engineering feat of its time. Spanning vast waters, it was once the world’s largest artificial lake, a title it held until the 20th century. The lake’s banks are adorned with elegant marble chhatris built by the royals, adding a touch of grandeur to its natural beauty. The surrounding Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary is home to diverse flora and fauna, including migratory birds, making it a paradise for nature lovers. Its peaceful setting and historical significance make it a tranquil retreat from Udaipur’s bustling core.
